Three photos from Freak of a shunting faux pas, possibly at New Norfolk, about the mid-60's
Two of wagons at Boyer, same day

Wow thats pretty impressive. That E van must have hit the bank hard to flip the body off like that.
It does sort of look like the cutting in the bank at the top of the wye.

I recon all the photos are at Boyer if you look at the background of the first two and the one with the CCC wagon and gantry in it.
Re: David Lidster's photos

Freak has given me a heap of negatives to scan. But most of them are large format and don't fit into a standard slide and negative scanner. This is about the only one that has come out any good using photo scanning option. Any suggestions?

This photo got me thinking about the ASG boiler that was mounted next to the station at New Norfolk.
Did anyone do any research about that boiler? Does anyone know what locomotive it came from? Or how it came to be used at the Milk Processor in Lenah Valley?

I can answer the last question. Dickie Baker was supposed to be the tightest businessman in Hobart a bloke I used to work with could remember when it was installed at the milk plant and he reckoned it came from a scrap merchant up north somewhere. It never reached the pressure it used to in locomotive service and was used for a closed hot water service so in theory it would have lasted forever if it was looked after.
As for the rest of your questions I cant remember any build numbers left on it so I don't know. It was used to raise funds when we bought H5 at the time we kept the smoke box door as a souvenir. It's still in the yard and we want to use it creatively in the future.

I found another one up at Hamilton and the plugs were all marked G6, I can't remember if the plugs on ours were marked.

The warehouse behind the New Norfolk station in the last photo is a new one on me. I wonder when that disappeared ?

Also of interest is the small extension to the western end of Boyer station along with the additional small building with the chimney. Both now long gone.

The ASG tanks in A wagons look to be at Conara Junction. Didn't Some ASG's get stored and later cut up at Conara Junction?

Re: David Lidster's photos
There were ASGs stored at Conara, but I dont know whether they were cut up there. I thought they were all towed up to Mowbray for the gas axe.

They look more like a load rather than a permanent mount.

The wagons also look to be the unbraked version.
